Every day there are more and more chats, apps, channels of some kind that send notifications, distract from current tasks, and confuse you.
Every day developers, marketers, managers, designers, and more spend 8-12 hours at the computer. Someone sitting, someone lying down.
And if the first you can try to solve by turning on airplane mode or focus mode on the iPhone. But this does not always work. Not everyone wants to solve this problem and generally doesn’t define it as a problem.
The second one is not so easy to solve from my perspective. The human body was definitely not prepared for sitting in one place for such a long period of time (or even standing). As a result of this (especially if sitting incorrectly), surprises can come out like snowdrops in a spring meadow. If there are no problems, it is far from certain that they will not appear later.
Personally, I have found the following solution. It is a modified Pomodoro Technique. We even made a telegram bot (while the developer was mastering Node js).

Principle of the method:
1️⃣ We use time periods (pomodoros) in which we don’t get distracted by messages, news, memes and etc. Concentrate only on a particular task (s). Usually it is 20-30 minutes.
However, it is important to consider the important factor that, for developers for example, such short periods of time will not work. 20-30 minutes will only take you to immerse yourself in the code. Even Paul Graham talked about this problem. This is the cardinal difference between a project/product manager and a developer. The former mostly have tasks that allow them to switch quickly. The latter require long work intervals with no distractions.
2️⃣ Worked and then take a break from the computer. But not just resting, but doing some exercise. We get the blood circulating. If you don’t want to, you can just get up and walk around and do some eye exercises, for example.
3️⃣ Next pomodoro.
I don’t think you can do that while working in an office. “Are you stupid?” – the neighbors will say to you. And you can also get sweaty and sit there afterwards exuding an aroma. However, from my point of view, it would be wonderful if corporations started taking care not only about OKR/KPIs, but also about the health of their employees.
Right now, there are a lot of people who work from home. So there is no problem with that – no one will judge. Even if you sweat – take a shower (but from 20 squats for example is quite difficult to sweat if you don’t do them with extra weight).
From my point of view, the problem of sedentary lifestyle is severely underestimated.
